Bushwick's First-Ever Skate Park Will Open in Fall 2017
The new skate park will live at Rudd Playground near the Evergreens Cemetery.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A $1 million to $3 million upgrade of Rudd Playground on Aberdeen Street near the Evergreens Cemetery will include Bushwick's first-ever skate park, according to the NYC Parks Department.
The design phase for the renovation project began in October 2016. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2017.
"A skate park has been a long time coming at Rudd Playground, where, for years, kids would informally use the space for that purpose," an NYC Parks spokeswoman told Patch.

Along with the new skate park, Rudd will get new-and-improved basketball courts, security lighting, paved surfaces, fences, benches, plants, entrances and drainage systems, according to NYC Parks.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and City Council Member Rafael Espinal (representing Bushwick) each allocated $1.7 million from their budgets to build the new skate park, the spokeswoman said.
