L Train Will Shut Down This Weekend In Brooklyn And Manhattan
The L train won't run between Eighth Avenue and Broadway Junction on Saturday or Sunday.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — L train service will be suspended this weekend between Broadway Junction and 8th Avenue as the MTA prepares for the 15-month shutdown coming in 2019.
L train service will be suspended from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, May 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, May 8 and again on Memorial Day weekend from 12:01 Saturday, May 27 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, the MTA said.
Free shuttle buses will run between the Marcy Avenue J, M, Z train station, the Lorimer Street L train station, the Myrtle-Wyckoff L, M train station and Broadway Junction during the temporary shutdowns, according to the MTA.

And in Manhattan, passengers can look to the M14 bus lines for alternate service, said the MTA.
There will also be temporary overnight shutdowns between Lorimer Street and Broadway Junction from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, May 26 and from Wednesday, May 31 through Friday, June 2.

The MTA plans to install a continuously welded rail between the Eighth Avenue station and Broadway Junction, inspect communication systems and perform basic maintenance.
These repairs come in lieu of the 15-month shutdown scheduled to begin in April, 2019 that will address damages to the Canarsie Tunnel caused by Superstorm Sandy.
