Man Found Buried In Bushwick Backyard Was Murdered: NYPD

Daniel Rivera, the 41-year-old super found buried in a Himrod Street backyard in October, was murdered, according to the Medical Examiner.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — The building superintendent found buried in a Bushwick backyard by police dogs was murdered, according to police.

Medical Examiners determined the death of Daniel Rivera — the 41-year-old man found wrapped in black garbage bags behind 54 Himrod St. on Oct. 6 — was a homicide, police said Thursday.

Rivera, who worked as a super in three Himrod Street buildings, might have been strangled by another Himrod Street super who later buried him in the nearby yard, DNAinfo reported.

Rivera, of Bushwick, was remembered by the grateful tenants he served as a protector and a friend, according to a DNAinfo profile.

"Everyone would bring him meals,” said his boss, Joseph Foglia. "He ate better in those buildings than he did at a five-star restaurant."
