Transgender Women Attacked By Gang The Day Of Brooklyn Pride, Police Say

The women were called "f----ts" and "transformers" during the Bushwick attack, police said.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — Two transgender women were beaten up by a group screaming transphobic slurs on the morning before the Brooklyn Pride parade, according to police.

The two women were attacked after leaving the Happyfun Hideaway bar near Myrtle and Bushwick avenues around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, police said.

A gang screamed “f-----ts” and “transformers” as they attacked the pair, police said. The NYPD didn't name the women, but a website set up to raise cash to cover their medical costs identified them as London Jade and Jasmine Infiniti.

“What scares me the most is, i was beyond WASTED and blacking out while me and my trans mother Jasmine Infiniti are being attacked and beat on," wrote London Jade, a musician from Miami, on Facebook. “They couldve killed us…”

“I'm tired of ppl telling me that I should just "walk away" or avoid trouble,” added Jasmine Infiniti on her Facebook page. “When are bigots, transphobes, and haters going to learn not to bother random ppl?

“When ppl feel the need to say something to me concerning my existence I have a right to say something back.”

The two women were taken to Bellevue Hospital where Jasmine Infiniti expects to have her jaw wired shut, according to police and London Jade.

The YouCaring.com page to help the two women manage the cost of their medical bills had earned more than $33,000 on Monday.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning but the attack is being investigated as a hate crime, according to police.
