Police: Driver topped 100 mph while fleeing Canandaigua stop (fingerlakes1.com) — Police say a Canandaigua man fled an attempted traffic stop on the City Pier, hit speeds over 100 mph along Lakeshore Drive, and nearly struck another vehicle before officers ended the chase for safety. After a follow-up investigation, he was charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing, and multiple traffic violations, and is due in Canandaigua City Court.

Red Cross declares emergency blood shortage; Where to donate in Rochester region (whec.com) — Canandaigua residents have several chances this month to help ease the Red Cross’s emergency blood shortage, with drives at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, Canandaigua Fire Department, Garber Randall, and Wood Library. With hospitals using more blood than expected, donors—especially those with O positive or B negative types—are urgently needed, and July donors receive a Fandango movie ticket incentive.

3. Orchard Park Man Arrested For Aggravated DWI in Canandaigua (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — A driver from Orchard Park was arrested in the City of Canandaigua after deputies say he was stopped on Routes 5 and 20 and found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.22%. He faces aggravated DWI and multiple traffic charges and is due in Canandaigua City Court on July 31.

4. Yates County approves septic aid, highway funds and evening August meeting (fingerlakes1.com) — Yates County lawmakers just approved major funding for septic replacements, highways, and youth employment programs, including support that helps pay to transport local preschoolers to Happiness House in Canandaigua. The meeting also advanced vaping prevention in nearby schools, airport upgrades in Penn Yan, and moved the August 10 legislative session to an evening time to make it easier for residents to attend.

Bloomfield first responder Alex Brown remembered for volunteer service (fingerlakes1.com) — Canandaigua-area first responders are mourning 32-year-old Alex Brown, a devoted Bloomfield volunteer and auxiliary member of the Canandaigua Emergency Squad known for always asking how he could help. Loved ones are remembering his service and sharing that memorial contributions can be made to the Canandaigua Emergency Squad or East Bloomfield-Holcomb Fire Department.
