• Overtime expenses trending down at SLC Correctional Facility but 'more work to be done,' Sheriff says (northcountrynow.com) — St. Lawrence County legislators meeting in Canton just approved another $300,000 to cover soaring overtime at the county jail, even as Sheriff Rick Engle says recent staffing changes have nearly halved overtime hours. Officials blame sick leave, state-mandated programs, and delayed state inmate transfers, and expect deeper debate when the full board meets in July.
