Putnam Hospital Center names new president (midhudsonnews.com) — Carmel’s Putnam Hospital Center has a new president, as Northwell Health taps Northern Westchester Hospital leader Derek Anderson to succeed retiring Dr. Mark Hirko. Anderson says he’ll focus on strengthening services and expanding access at the county’s only full-service medical center, which recently came under Northwell ownership, aiming to better meet evolving health needs in Carmel and surrounding communities.

Putnam to implement new mental health-probation collaboration (midhudsonnews.com) — Putnam County officials in Carmel are launching a new partnership that embeds recovery peer advocates directly into the probation system to better support justice-involved residents. Mental Health Commissioner Sara Servadio and Probation Director John Osterhout say the initiative aims to address behavioral health needs early, improve stability and public safety, and does so with no additional fiscal impact, earning praise from legislators.

Putnam County Wine & Music Festival return with expanded fun (caribbeannationalweekly.com) — Mark your calendar for Aug. 22–23, when the Putnam County Wine & Music Festival returns to Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel with live bands, wine and spirits tastings, food vendors, kids’ games, and chef demos. This 15th-anniversary edition also adds a patty-eating contest and supports a hospitality mental health nonprofit, making it both a party and a cause.
