In this two week class, participants will explore the making of a handbound book from start to finish.
Instructors will discuss the basics of paper: grain, folding properties, and the million other factors to consider when choosing paper for bookmaking, like weight, colors, and finishes. Then they'll look and try out several types of binding--folded bindings, accordian binding, and glued perfect-binding. Last, the class will discuss some different ways to make simple covers.
In the end, you'll combine all the skills you've learned into your own handmade book to take home.
