1. Auburn Man Arrested Following Domestic Assault Investigation (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — A local man was arrested after Auburn police say a domestic dispute at Standart Woods Apartments escalated into physical assault and unlawful imprisonment. The victim drove to Auburn Community Hospital for help, and officers later took the suspect into custody. He now faces multiple misdemeanor charges and is being held at the Cayuga County Jail.
   

2. Inmate Convicted of Assaulting Two Officers at Auburn Correctional (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — A Cayuga County jury has convicted an Auburn Correctional Facility inmate of four felony assault counts for attacking two officers in the prison hospital, leaving both needing hospital care. Already serving 20 years for earlier crimes, he now faces up to 14 additional years when sentenced in January, which must run consecutively under state law.
   

3. Cayuga County reroutes 911 calls during phone outage (fingerlakes1.com) — Cayuga County residents are being told to keep dialing 911 as usual while a phone outage forces emergency calls to be temporarily routed through Seneca County dispatchers. Local 911 staff can still send responders, and several nonemergency numbers are working directly. Verizon is working on repairs, but no restoration time has been given yet.
   

4. Firefighters respond to house fire on Hillview Drive in Cayuga County (fingerlakes1.com) — Fire crews from Union Springs, Cayuga, Aurora, Aurelius and other departments battled a serious house fire on Hillview Drive in Cayuga County, where several animals died but no people were found inside. Hoarding conditions complicated the response, and Auburn fire investigators are looking into the cause and extent of damage as crews remained on scene for hours.
   

5. Fall color accelerates in Finger Lakes, led by Cortland and Corning areas (fingerlakes1.com) — If you’re planning a fall drive from Cayuga, nearby Moravia and Locke are already seeing about 35% color change with plenty of dark reds, while Auburn is around 25%. Across the Finger Lakes, foliage varies widely, so short trips from Cayuga can offer everything from early splashes of color to mostly green hillsides this weekend.
