5 People Rescued After Boat Overturns In Bay: Fire Department
A water rescue team found 4 on a jetty clinging to wooden pilings, and a fifth in the water holding on to the side of the jetty: officials.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — Five people were rescued after their boat overturned in Moriches Bay Sunday, fire officials said.
According to the Center Moriches Fire Department, at 7:08 p.m., firefighters and the marine incident response team raced to help the people, whose boat was located near the entrance to Orchard Neck Creek.
The Center Moriches Fire Department's water rescue team was there within five minutes of being dispatched and found four people on a jetty clinging to wooden pilings and a fifth in the water holding on to the side of the jetty, officials said.

Two rescue swimmers were sent down the jetty and helped the five people onto the Center Moriches Fire Department's boat; the men were then transported to the Union Avenue dock where they were evaluated by Center Moriches Fire Department EMS, officials said.
The marine incident response team is comprised of a group of firefighters trained to respond to water-based emergencies; the team includes members from the Center Moriches Fire Department, East Moriches Fire Department, Eastport Fire Department, Mastic Fire Department, and Mastic Beach Fire Department, officials said.
