Drunk Dad Asleep At Wheel With Boys, 3, 4, At McDonald's: Cops

The drunk father fell asleep in the drive-through lane of McDonald's with his little boys, 3 and 4, in the car, police say.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — A Center Moriches dad who drove drunk and fell asleep at the wheel at a McDonald's drive-through with his two little boys, 3 and 4 years old, was busted early Sunday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, Miguel Alvarado-Gonzales, 29, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville.

He was behind the wheel of a 2005 Jeep Cherokee in the drive-through lane of McDonald’s, located on North Ocean Avenue, with his sons in the vehicle, when he fell asleep at the wheel, police said. An employee of McDonald’s called 911 to report the situation, police said.

When Sixth Precinct officers arrived, they saw Alvarado-Gonzales driving out of the parking lot, heading north on North Ocean Avenue; the officers pulled the Cherokee over in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop gas station on North Ocean Avenue and arrested Alvarado-Gonzales, police said.

Alvarado-Gonzales was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years or younger, Leandra’s Law, a felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Alvarado-Gonzales was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip, police said. The children were released into the custody of their mother, police said.
