Fire Rips Through Tate's Bake Shop
The fire broke out in one of the popular bakery's locations on Friday evening.

EAST MORICHES, NY— A fire broke out a Tate's Bake Shop property in East Moriches Friday evening, police said.
Seventh Precinct officers responded to a fire on the property located at 62 Pine St. at 6:25 p.m., police said.
Firefighters from the East Moriches, Center Moriches, Eastport, Mastic, Manorville and Westhampton Beach fire departments also responded.

There were no injuries. Arson section detectives are investigating, police said.
According to William Youngs, first assistant chief with the East Moriches Fire Department , while the fire is still under investigation, "We believe they were doing some work inside, and machinery on the outside of the building caught on fire, which set a tractor trailer full of supplies on fire" outside the building.

The fire, Youngs said, spread about 10' into the building, but ceiling sprinklers helped contain the blaze.
Firefighters, he said, attacked that outside wall from the inside; although the wall was damaged, it it still standing and the building sustained mostly smoke damage.
The local Hamptons bake shop known for its mouthwatering cookies sold in May, 2018 for $500 million to Mondelēz International, which acquired the business' locations in Southampton, Westhampton and Center Moriches.
Founded in 2000, Tate's soon became a delicious treat on the East End, known for signature thin-and-crispy cookies with simple, authentic, high-quality ingredients.
