Man Killed When Pickup Truck Strikes Tree
The single-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning, police say.

EAST MORICHES, NY — An East Moriches man was killed in a Shoreham crash Saturday morning.
According to Suffolk County Police, Michael Austin, 32, was killed in the crash, which took place in the northbound lane of the William Floyd Parkway, south of Route 25A, at 6:40 a.m.
Austin was driving a 2004 Ford Ranger when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Austin was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
