Moriches Elementary School Nurse Wins Prestigious Award

Teresa Ergul has more than 35 years of experience in nursing, the district says.

MORICHES, NY — A Moriches Elementary School nurse has been honored for her years of dedication.

Teresa Ergul, RN, recently received the prestigious Recognition and Distinguished Service Award presented by the New York State Association of School Nurses, "an award given to recognize a person who has made significant contributions to the advancement of school nursing and the enhancement of NYASN," the district said.

Ergul, who has more than 35 years of experience as a nurse, has served the students of the William Floyd School District for the past 14 years — first at William Floyd High School and then at Moriches Elementary School, the district added.

Ergul has also served as treasurer of NYSASN for the past four years, working toward advancements in upgrading the organization's financial and accounting systems. She is also the past president of the Suffolk County Association of School Nurses, the district said.
