• After Marijuana Gummies Sicken Middle Schoolers, Lawmakers Pitch New Legislation To Protect Kids From Crime (patch.com) — Lawmakers gathered in Center Moriches to back new state bail legislation aimed at letting judges set bail when children are harmed, following THC gummies that sickened a dozen William Floyd Middle School students. Officials from Suffolk County and state government say the bill would give courts more discretion with defendants accused of endangering minors, while the seller in the case awaits sentencing this September.
