SUV Drives Off Highway, Overturns, Lands In Ditch: Officials

No serious injuries were reported, police say.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — Minor injuries were reported in a single vehicle crash in Center Moriches Monday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the call came in at 6:05 a.m. and no one involved was seriously hurt.

The Center Moriches Fire Department and EMTs were called to the scene of the crash, which involved an SUV heading east on Sunrise Highway east of Railroad Avenue, fire officials said.

"Emergency personnel arrived to find an SUV had driven off the highway, overturned and landed in a ditch off the shoulder of the roadway," the Center Moriches Fire Department said.

While firefighters secured the vehicle, EMTs treated and transported the occupants of the vehicle to a local hospital with minor injuries; firefighters were back in service within 20 minutes, fire department officials said.
