Woman Killed in Long Island Boat Crash
The woman died after she was thrown from the boat into the water, police say.

MORICHES, NY — A woman died in a boat crash east of Moriches Inlet Sunday, police said.
Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which took place at 6:28 p.m., police said.
A 50-foot Sea Ray with three people aboard was traveling westbound a quarter mile off Cupsogue Beach at Cupsogue Beach County Park when it struck a drifting boat broadside with a married couple aboard at 6:28 p.m., police said.

The man jumped from the boat, and the woman was thrown into the water, police said.
The woman was pulled from the water by the United States Coast Guard and taken to the Coast Guard station where she was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner; her name is being withheld pending notification of family members, police said.

The man was rescued by passing boaters and was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Both boats were impounded for safety checks, police said.
