• Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For Pets Coming To Central Islip (patch.com) — A free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets is coming to the Islip Animal Shelter on Technology Drive in Central Islip on Oct. 4, open to all Suffolk residents with no appointment needed. Local pet owners are urged to bring leashed dogs and crated cats or ferrets, helping keep Central Islip families safer from rabies while complying with state vaccination laws. 
• Certified nursing assistant accused of forcibly touching disabled patient at rehab facility in Middle Island (tbrnewsmedia.com) — A certified nursing assistant is accused of forcibly touching a disabled patient at a Middle Island rehab facility and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 20. The 32-year-old patient was evaluated at Stony Brook University Hospital, and police are asking anyone who believes they may also be a victim to contact the Sixth Squad.
