Along with crossings in Brentwood and Wyandanch, this project aims to boost safety, cut traffic backups, and improve train reliability along the busy Ronkonkoma Branch corridor that many local commuters rely on daily.

2. Holtsville man arrested for alleged identity theft (tbrnewsmedia.com) — A Holtsville man accused of opening a fake bank account and renting vehicles in a Bay Shore victim’s name is set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 21. Police say the account, allegedly funded with counterfeit checks and app transfers, now shows a $5,000 negative balance, and detectives are asking any additional victims to come forward.

3. SCPD: Nine People Arrested, 12 Vehicles Impounded After East Farmingdale Street Takeover (longisland.com) — Nine people arrested after a late-night street takeover in East Farmingdale are all scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date. Police say dozens of cars blocked Central Avenue for stunts and burnouts before the Street Takeover Task Force moved in, impounding 12 vehicles and issuing 46 tickets.

Influencer Charged for Alleged Drunk Driving with 2 Kids in Car, Hours After Posting Martini Picture (people.com) — A Long Island content creator charged with alleged drunk driving with her two young children in the car is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on July 19. Police say her vehicle crashed into woods in Brookhaven, and while she and her 1-year-old suffered minor injuries, both children were ultimately released to their father.
