3 Teenagers Fall Through Central Park Ice In 2 Days
In two separate instances, teenagers walking on frozen surfaces in Central Park have plunged through the ice.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — Police officers rescued a teenager who fell through the ice Monday afternoon at The Pond in Central Park, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
The 15-year-old was walking out on thin ice at The Pond — located within the park near East 59th Street and East Drive — around 1 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. Two nearby police officers witnessed the teen fall through the ice and retrieved a ladder from Parks Department employees, the spokesman told Patch.
The officers then extended the ladder to the teenager, who grabbed on, and pulled him to safety, an NYPD spokesman said.

The teenager was taken to New York Presbyterian hospital for evaluation, but was in stable condition, police said.
The teenager was the third person who has fallen through ice at Central Park in the past two days. Two teenagers, ages 13 and 15, fell through ice Sunday night while walking out on Swan Lake, the Daily News reported. The two teenagers were able to swim to safety and flag down police officers at West 60th St. and West Drive, the Daily News reported.

Both were taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's hospital in stable condition, the Daily News reported.
Late Monday afternoon the fire department subtweeted the ice-walkers and reminded all New Yorkers not to walk out onto frozen over bodies of water.
Remember, there is no such thing as safe ice. Be #FDNYSmart, never walk on frozen water. You risk your life & the lives of first responders
