Cop Who Crashed Scooter In Central Park Sues Conservancy: Report
The cop, who already sued the city, blames the Central Park Conservancy for poor field conditions which led to a scooter crash.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — An NYPD officer who was already suing the city for injuries he suffered after crashing his scooter in Central Park is now directing his wrath to the private organization responsible for park maintenance, according to reports.
Carmelo Fargas, 32, filed a lawsuit Thursday against the Central Park Conservancy arguing that the organization is responsible for injuries he sustained in the line of duty on September 4, 2016, DNAinfo reported.
A spokesperson for the Central Park Conservancy told Patch that the organization does not comment on pending litigation.

Fargas previously filed a suit against the city government. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, said that Fargas crashed his two-wheel scooter on a patch of “unlevel, gapped, depressed (and) uneven,” land on Sept. at 2:30 a.m near Central Park West and 85th St., the Daily News reported.
After the crash Fargas required surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee, which left him "totally disabled for a period of time," according to the report.

At the time of the crash, Fargas was chasing a group of youths who were in the park after-hours.
A spokesman for the city Law Department told Patch "the Law Department will review the lawsuit,” but did not comment on specifics of the case.
