NYPD Release Video Of Man Suspected Of Robbing Teen In Central Park

The man shoved a 15-year-old to the ground and stole her phone, police said.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — The NYPD released video Tuesday of a man suspected of robbing a 15-year-old girl in Central Park.

Police are asking the public to help identify the man who shoved the teenage girl to the ground and stole her cellphone in May, police told Patch.

The man approached a 15-year-old girl walking through the park on Tuesday, May 2, and asked for the time and if she could spare some money, police said. When the girl told the man she didn't have money, he grabbed her cellphone and pushed her to the ground, police told Patch.

After shoving the girl, the man fled the scene, heading northeast into the park, police said. The robbery occurred in the vicinity of 106th Street and West Drive around 6 p.m., police told Patch.

Police had previously released images of the man captured in a subway station near Central Park.

The suspect is likely in his 30s, stands 5-foot-8 and weighs around 140 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a gray print pattern, white jeans and red sneakers, police said.
