Two Men Robbed On Same Night In Central Park, Police Say

Two seperate groups of robbers struck Wednesday night in Central Park.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — Two men were robbed within hours of each other Wednesday night in Central Park, an NYPD spokesman said. Four people are currently in custody for one of the robberies and three others are wanted for the second, police said.

The first robbery occurred within the park 6:10 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. Four men surrounded a 31-year-old man who was walking near West Drive and West 75th Street, the spokesman said. After surrounding the man, one of the robbers punched him in the face and the rest took his belonging before fleeing the crime scene, police said.

The four robbers were arrested within the park shortly after, police said.

In a seemingly unconnected incident, a 56-year-old man was robbed while walking on West Drive and West 65th Street around 9 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. Three men approached the victim and demanded his wallet, police said.

The man refused to hand over his belongings and was pushed to the ground, police said. The robbers did not steal anything from the man before running away, police said.

Police are still searching for the suspects in the later robbery, an NYPD spokesman said.
