Woman Knocked to Ground, Mugged by 4 Teens in Central Park: Police

The woman suffered injuries to her hand, knee, mouth and head when four teenagers knocked her to the ground and stole her bag.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — A woman was mugged by a group of teenagers — who knocked her to the ground while punching and kicking her before stealing her bag — in Central Park Sunday, police told Patch.

The woman was walking in the middle of the park in the 65th Street Traverse around 9:15 p.m. when she passed four teenagers sitting on a bench, police said. Shortly after passing the teenagers the woman was attacked from behind, police told Patch.

The teenagers punched and kicked the woman as they stole her bag which contained a purse, iPhone, credit cards and $500 in cash, police told Patch.

The woman suffered injuries to her head, mouth, knee and hand and was treated within the police precinct, police told Patch. Her identity and age were not disclosed by the police.

The four teenagers were around 15 or 16 years old, police told Patch. They fled the scene into the park and have not been arrested as of Monday afternoon, police said.
