All We Need Is Love

Happy August!!!

It is always amazing to me how fast the summer whizzes by. But I hope you, like me, are enjoying the wonderful weather that summer brings…

The other day my husband read that the first of the “Sandy” storm babies had been born. The article stated that there is an expected 30% increase in births in our area over this time last year. It seems that a lack of electricity over an extended period led to a rise in other activities. Well, we had to survive without TVs, iPads and iPhones, and anything else electronic. When it got dark, we went to bed – even if it was around 8 or 8:30. While I do not wish to ever experience twelve days without power again, there were some upsides. Collectively, we actually got to spend more quality time together, playing some games, huddling around a fire and being in bed without distraction. This obviously led to more intimate time with the expected result – more babies!!!

It is SO easy to get distracted in our lives these days. There is always an email to respond to, a show to watch, a game to play, a story to read, Facebook, etc., etc. But one thing that I see again and again, with both friends and clients, is a resulting lack of time to truly connect with the ones we love.

So, no surprise, I propose that for the month of August you find ways you can “connect” more and by consciously “unplugging” from electronics from time to time. Find ways to reignite fun and passion in your everyday life!!! A simple stroke on the arm of your partner can create an electric charge that will get his or her attention. It is easy to be complacent. But fight the complacency!!! At the end of the day, and at the end of your days, feeling love and expressing love is a key ingredient to a satisfied life. It is certainly way more rewarding than getting to the next level of candy crush or watching your favorite show. Connect now – play games or watch TV later…
