Bear Sightings in Armonk

North Castle police have issued a warning and some tips.

Several bear sightings in Armonk neighborhoods have been reported to the North Castle Police Department.

In response, police issued an advisory to residents.

Bears are transient residents of Westchester County, according to the New York state Department of Environmental Conservation. Black bears at this time of year are searching for food. They are most often not dangerous to humans, however, if they become conditioned to human presence, or feel threatened, they could become so.
