CareMount Medical Dedicates State-of-the-Art Laboratory to Former Chief Medical Officer, Abe Levy, MD

CareMount Medical, the largest independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, is pleased to announce the dedication of its clinical laboratory located in Brewster, NY. The Dr. Abe Levy Clinical Laboratory at CareMount Medical is a full-service clinical laboratory licensed by the state of New York. It has been named in honor of CareMount Medical’s former Chief Medical Officer, Abe Levy, MD. “I am delighted to name our modern clinical laboratory after Dr. Levy. His decades of leadership enabled this lab to become a reality,” said Scott D. Hayworth, MD, FACOG, President and CEO of CareMount Medical.


The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art analyzers linked to cutting edge automation. The advanced technology is supported by highly trained Medical Technologists assuring high quality standards, accuracy in testing, and rapid test result turn-around time. The team’s approach is focused on providing the best outcomes for patients. CareMount built this lab with the ability to accommodate new technologies as they become available. Current testing platforms include but are not limited to chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunoassay, vitamin D, and Lyme disease.

Dr. Abe Levy received his MD from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1966. He completed his Internship at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore MD in 1968. Dr. Levy completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital in 1970. Dr. Levy was a Fellow in Internal Medicine & Psychosomatic Medicine at the University of Rochester from 1970-1972. He then served on the faculty of the University of Rochester as an Assistant Professor of Medicine through the end of 1973. He joined MKMG in 1974.

Dr. Levy is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Consultant in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Levy was the President of Westchester Academy of Medicine from 2005-2008. He was an Attending Physician at Northern Westchester Hospital and the Co-chair of the IT Steering Committee.


Dr. Levy practiced at CareMount Medical’s Mount Kisco location and as a Hospitalist at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was the Medical Director & Chief Quality Officer of MKMG. He served as President of the Westchester County (NY) Medical Society.
