Local DAR Donates 2,000 Pounds of Clothing to Area Children
The Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR Collected, Sorted & Donated Winter Clothing to Kids' Kloset for Day of Service

Chappaqua, New York – The Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR collected, sorted and donated 2,000 pounds of winter clothing, along with books and toys, to Kids’ Kloset on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Chapter members and local community members donated new and gently worn winter clothing, with hip kid serving as public donation drop. The National DAR Day of Service celebrates the anniversary of the October 11, 1890 founding of the DAR with DAR members all over the world participating in special volunteer service projects in their communities.

“These donations will clothe many children-in-need,” said Dawn Greenburgh, the chapter’s Service to America Committee Chair. Due to the generous amount of donations, extra clothes were able to be donated to The Graham-Windham Residential School and Treatment Center. The chapter gave blankets to the SPCA of Westchester and recycled damaged contributions into rags.

Kids’ Kloset, a division of (914) Cares, is a volunteer-driven program that provides under-served Westchester County children with donated clothing and related items. Since Kids’ Kloset opened in 2011, it has provided over 16,000 bags of clothing, footwear, diapers and other baby essentials to local children. To learn more, visit www.914cares.org/kids-kloset/.
