Chappaqua Schools Make National Top 10 List
In fact, Westchester districts took 4 of the 10 spots.

Niche.com, founded in 2002 by Carnegie Mellon University students, is all about reviewing and ranking educational facilities from pre-k through grad school.
Its new list is Best Public School Districts.
In all, Niche ranks 8,738 districts “based on dozens of key statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents. A high ranking indicates that the district contains great schools with exceptional teachers, sufficient resources, and a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experiences very highly.”

Four districts in Westchester County make the top 10, which is actually headed by Edgemont. Scarsdale and Rye clock in at Nos. 5 and 8 and Chappaqua is listed 10th.
The graduation rate—97 percent—and the student to teacher ratio—12:1—were among the key factors in the Niche ranking.

Here’s how Niche graded Chappaqua:
- 5 A+s: for academics, administration and policies, educational outcomes, health & safety and teachers
- 2 As: for extracurriculars and food
- 1 B+: for sports & fitness
- 1 B-: for student culture and diversity
As one reviewer wrote about Horace Greeley High School, “ It can fit into a specific demographic category typical of many middle to upper class suburban high schools. The diversity comes from learning to accept peers you have known for years.”
