Chase On I-684 Leads To DWI Charge

NORTH CASTLE, NY — State Police in Troop K said they removed 17 impaired drivers from public roadways during the May 12 weekend. Among the accused is a Bronx resident who police said tried to get away from them on Interstate 684.

On May 11, State Police from SP Somers arrested Joshua M. Belizario, 26, of Bronx, NY, for DWI, and Unlawfully Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, both misdemeanors.

He was traveling on Interstate 684 in the town of North Castle, when a traffic stop was initiated for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law, police said.

Belizario attempted to flee, reaching speeds over 130 miles per hour prior to being detained, police alleged. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol.
