Commuter Nightmare: Snow-Covered Cars at the Station
New Castle officials beg people not to leave their cars in the lot overnight when snow is falling or predicted.

For every one car that is left in the parking lot at the Chappaqua train station through a snowstorm, four spots are lost to other commuters.
It’s easy to see why if you look: the plow sweeps around them.
“Although our DPW did a terrific job clearing roads and the downtown parking lots, the large commuter rail road parking lot remains a challenge,” said New Castle Town Administrator Jill Shapiro in the town newsletter.

The lost spots quickly add up, she said—and that’s particularly true these days.
“In a year that has had commuters scrambling to find open parking spots at the train station where all spots were available, this is going to be a huge issue,” she wrote. ”We urge all commuters to remove your cars from the train station lot overnight so that our crews can get in the there and clear the snow.”
