Con Ed Warns of Phony Employee Home Invasions

After three violent incidents in NYC, the utility issued an alert.

Con Edison is warning customers in Westchester County and across its service area to beware of imposters claiming to be from the utility who seek to enter a home or business.

Three incidents in New York City spurred the warning, a company spokesman said.

An elderly woman was beaten and bound during a robbery in Queens by a woman who pretended to be a Con Ed worker, according to the Daily News; and a young woman was sexually assaulted in the Bronx by two men who gained entry posing as Con Ed employees, according to CBSNew York.
