Don't Miss: Benefit Shop Art, Jewelry, Furniture Auction
The Benefit Shop Foundation will host an auction on February 21st.

CHAPPAQUA-MOUNT KISCO, NY - From The Benefit Shop Foundation: The Benefit Shop Foundation Inc. will present its next signature Red Carpet auction on Wednesday, February 21, at 10 am, with a diverse range of goods from Asian and French furniture to decorative arts and fine estate jewelry.
The monthly Red Carpet sales feature premium collections of antique, Midcentury Modern, brand furnishings, sterling, china, crystal, jewelry and fine art. With a mission of “to donate, to discover and to do good,” the foundation is a non-profit and all auction proceeds support community organizations. Consignors get a tax deduction, the buyer gets a great deal and local non-profits get much needed funds.
“This is a terrific auction. We were very fortunate to acquire some high-caliber items and we will be adding to the sale for another ten days, said founder/president Pam Stone. “In this sale, we have a lot of period French, Deco, and Asian antiques, some unusual items and a lot of jewelry. We are really a soup-to- nuts kind of auction.”

The auction is filled with striking items, starting off with lot 1, a life-sized gold toned painted Oriental female statue, possibly vintage or antique, marked as copyright ARP, 65 in tall, as well as a bronze Art Deco statuette of a nude woman reclining inside a crescent moon, 23 by 20 by 9 inches, and a colorful and whimsical folk art reverse painting on glass of a vintage family scene at the bus stop with a cityscape backdrop, 29 by 23 inches.
Asian arts will figure prominently in the auction with several choice lacquered examples of antique Chinese furniture crossing the block late in the sale. First up will be a red lacquered chest and mirror, circa 1800-1890, having an intricately painted scene of Chinese children playing outside, 32 ½ inches tall, followed by a Nineteenth Century red lacquer wedding chest, 1860s, Shanxi Province, 78 by 48 by 27 inches; a Nineteenth Century red and black lacquer cabinet with hand painted black and gold toned figurals in various martial art poses, two dragons and a horned deer, 46 by 37 ½ by 18 inches; and a black lacquer calligraphy table, 79 inches long. Also highlighting this category will be a set of black lacquer Asian armchairs, including two black-toned lacquered horseshoe chairs, 39 inches tall.

Besides furniture, fine Chinese art and decorative pieces will also be on offer, led by a Nineteenth Century Chinese celadon green silk ladies jacket framed, 78 by 52 inches; a pair of museum conservation framed ink and color on silk paintings depicting a classic Chinese landscape scene, 62 by 29 inches; and a pair of imperial yellow temple lions, circa 1860-1880, from the Nanking Province, 17 ½ inches tall. Japanese arts is also represented in the form of a bronze eagle sculpture depicting a “Taka (eagle)” in intricate detail, Meiji period, 27 by 26 by 11 inches.
Besides Asian arts, this sale is rich in Continental furniture and decoratives, especially works from France. Highlights include a vintage, possibly antique, ornately carved mirror with French Gilded age elements of scrolls, swags, C and S curves, acanthus leaves and sinuous lines, 54 by 36 inches; a five-arm, French Empire bronze dore hanging chandelier, early Nineteenth Century, having gilded lion head decoration, 18 by 24 inches; a Sevres porcelain gilt bronze pictoral vase made into a table lamp, 29 inches tall; and a pair of antique ormolu and crystal girandole candelabras, possibly bronze with crystal drops and finials, 27 inches tall.
Leading a parade of fine French furniture across the block will be a Louis XIV style bombe commode, vintage, possibly antique, with exquisite inlay of floral marquetry and parquetry and ormolu mounted decorative detail, 37 by 47 by 18 ½ inches; and a Louis XV style console table, circa 1880-1890, richly hand carved with a white marble top, 32 ½ by 47 by 16 ½ inches.
Midcentury Modern items are still on fire at auction and this sale offers several choice pieces ranging from an architecturally-designed bar cart in chrome metal glass and Lucite with four silver toned wheels, 39 by 32 by 20 inches, to an Italian glass and chrome Baughman era bi-level sawhorse desk having triangle shaped legs, 60 by 30 inches. Not catalogued as Midcentury Modern but having that sleek look comes a pair of BOSS leather seat stools made in Italy by Cattelan Italia, 27 by 19 inches.
Adding some bling to the auction are fine estate and costume jewelry selections, led by a sterling silver necklace with a natural purple-toned stone pendant, chain is marked on ends as 925 Italy; a Hand & Hammer Silversmiths Noah’s Ark sterling brooch pin marked as copyright deMatteo H&H Sterling; a ladies 14K white gold and diamond drop pierced earrings, and a vintage sunburst brooch pin centered by a round cut diamond.
Several fine antique rugs on offer include a vivid and multi-toned carpet runner with hues of red, brown, blue, tan, and pink, 170 by 38 inches, and a vintage handmade Oriental rug, possibly antique, having a multi toned floral motif detail, 137 by 105 inches.
For those looking to host a fancy dinner party, the auction will have several lots of note such as a set of six Bohemia cut crystal colored wine glasses, ornately decorated, green and cranberry toned crystal with clear geometric cut crystal stems. Buyers can also pick up a large set of Royal Copenhagen 1950s Brown Iris china dishes, offering over 78 pieces.
Rounding out the sale will be a variety of statement pieces, including a set of bright yellow, room sized planters, marked Brooke Pottery England, 23 by 27 inches; a R&Y Augousti shagreened wooden jewelry box, made in Philippines, 4 1/2 by 7 by 8 inches; and a Bob Timberlake Lexington Furniture Industries Arts and Crafts style bar with a stone and wood top, having two cabinets and three drawers, 54 by 38 by 30 inches. Also crossing the block will be a set of Smith & Hawkins outdoor furniture in teak comprising four Giverny chairs, two Giverny side tables and two Inverness benches.
