Easter Slashing in Mount Kisco

Westchester County Police arrested a homeless man on Sunday after he slashed another man with a box cutter in Kirby Plaza in Mount Kisco.

Minutes after the attack, Santos Contreras, 29, who has no fixed address, was taken into custody at a nearby deli and charged with Assault 2nd Degree, a felony.

Police said the box cutter used in the slashing was found in his possession.

The incident began at 1:20 p.m. when Westchester County Police received initial reports that someone had been stabbed near the Mount Kisco railroad station. Responding officers located a man walking near the Chase bank branch on Main Street near South Moger Avenue who was bleeding from deep cuts to his left hand.

The victim told Detective Jospeh Donza that a man known to him had committed the assault. He said his attacker was angry with him because he had refused to buy beer for the man the night before.

Witnesses told officers that the assailant had gone into a deli along Main Street. Officer Ryan Watts located the suspect there and took him into custody.

The victim was transported by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, where he was treated and released.

Contreras was arraigned before village Justice Mark Farrell last night and is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
