Election for 2 Fire Commissioners in New Castle Fire District #1
The Fire District's plan to expand was soundly defeated last month. Now two seats on the board are up for election.
The Annual Election of the New Castle Fire District No. 1 will take place from 2-9 p.m. Dec. 13, at the Bedford Road Firehouse located at the intersection of routes 120 and 117.
The district was plunged into disarray last month when voters soundly defeated two proposals from the Fire Commissioners to buy an adjoining property and double the size of the firehouse.
The fire district is a political subdivision of the state, capable of levying taxes, and charged with providing the Chappaqua Fire Department the funding necessary for equipment, apparatus, training, day-to-day operations, maintenance and repair of District facilities, among other specialty matters.
