Ethiopian Restaurant Coming To Mount Kisco

Mount Kisco is about to see a new addition to its South Moger Avenue promenade retail front.

A new restaurant, listed on a municipal building permit as Lalibela Restaurant, will open and serve Ethiopian food, according to Mark Stevenson, a carpenter working for R.S. Construction, a company that is doing work remodeling the interior.

Stevenson said that his portion of the work will be done by next week, with things like tables, stools to be added subsequently.

The carpenter talked to Patch about the woman who owns the establishment. Stevenson said that she is a native of Ethiopia and has a background in traditional Ethiopian food. The owner could not be reached for an interview by the time of publication.

In overhauling the interior to accommodate a restaurant, Stevenson described work that was extensive.

"It was a complete overhaul," he said, citing work on gas lines, drains as examples.

The restaurant will have eating space in the front portion, with a bar in the back-right side of the main room. Behind that will be two bathrooms and the kitchen.

The restaurant's future location is between Touch of Jamaica and Charles Schwab. The building permit was issued Dec. 10, 2009. Confirmation of the future eatery comes amid ongoing speculation of an Ethiopian restaurant coming to Mount Kisco. For example, in a January thread posted on the food blog Chowhound.com a person said that an Ethiopian restaurant was on its way.
