The documentary film Miss Representation will be screened at Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester (TBE), located at 220 Bedford Rd., Chappaqua, NY 10514. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The evening is hosted by TBE and the League of Women Voters of Northern Westchester. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion.
Premiering at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Miss Representation is written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom and exposes how mainstream media contribute to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence in America. the film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging protrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achive leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.
