Ex-Knick David Lee Puts on Clinic for Kids in Chappaqua

Newly minted Golden State Warrior David Lee buried a barrage of jumpers as longtime Teaches Hoops director Terry Teachout delivered bounce pass after bounce pass to the sweat-soaked 6-foot-9 All-Star forward.
The scene took place earlier this summer before a jam-packed gym of campers and parents at the Robert E. Bell middle school in Chappaqua.
For Lee, who recently purchased a home in California, it was his last camp with Teaches Hoops before he throws on a Golden State uniform. Lee recently held a camp in Sleepy Hollow and his partnership with Teaches Hoops began in 2008.

During the shooting clinic he out on in Chappaqua, Lee showed off his improved jump shot – something that significant in helping him land his massive free agent contract. was indicative of this.
"I think adding that (shooting) facet of his game has really helped him," said Teachout, who helped start Chappaqua-based Teaches Hoops back in 1987.

Teachout, who additionally directs basketball camps with Cleveland Cavs guard Daniel Gibson and Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche, couldn't fire his typical chest passes because Lee had an injured finger that was wrapped.
Still, the camp was in full swing Wednesday, with shooting clinics, skill development stations, five-on-five games, and contests.
Promising young players carved out a name for themselves, with a crop of young talent from Manhattan and Rye Country Day School making an impact.
Jay White, a longtime Teaches Hoops coach, took on Lee in a creative game of H-O-R-S-E before a sea of youngsters.
While White surprised many with the mid-range assassin's deft shooting touch and considerable range from beyond the confines of the arc, Lee's flurry of angled bank shots from 20-feet eventually did White in.
Lee wasn't sure whether he'll be able to run clinics in Chappaqua given his new address, but he made a significant contribution to the community and campers during his five-year career in New York.
