Family Fitness Drives Ladies To Kickboxing & Martial Arts Westchester

Family Fitness Drives Ladies To Kickboxing & Martial Arts In Westchester NY. The Family That Trains Together Stays Together And Has A Special Bond Only They Understand.

It’s been about four years now since these ladies walked into my school. I can’t believe that when I say it out loud because it seems like just yesterday. When they walked in Charlotte and Storey were just babies and Sherri had no idea or inclination that she would be addicted to martial arts. To watch all three of these ladies transform right before my eyes on their journey has been a career highlight for me. They have become part of the family.

The girls are twins but completely their own individuals. Storey is a girly girl that loves dressing up in dresses and make up and Charlotte is a bit of a tom boy and dresses up as Captain America rather than a dress. On the mat though they are very similar. Both have great focusing ability. They are often called upon to demonstrate for the class. When a new student begins I feel very comfortable telling them to just watch these girls to see what to do. The started off as Cubs where they would often cry and sit on the instructors lap. Now the are going to MMA competitions. To be their instructor has been a privilege. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Sherri started off watching the girls in class as Cubs. I always thought she had an urge to maybe step on the mat because of how closely she watched the class. One day she asked the Cubs instructor who was a black belt about trying a class. She has been in class 3 or 4 days a week ever since. She is now an ambassador for MMA. She is always sending in people to try the class. She is so supportive of all the other students. To me her experience is exactly what being a martial artist is all about. To step out of your comfort zone and do something you thought you would never be able to do is one of the most rewarding things you will ever feel. It is really the only way to grow as an individual. Her courage and dedication is inspiring to me.

The family that trains together stays together. They have a unique understanding of the struggle they each go through and are better equipped to support each other along the way. When a child has an issue in class, most parents say “Go ask your teacher.” In this house the have a heavy bag in the garage and they say “Ok lets go work on it.” I feel bad for any fool that thinks this would be a good house to break into.

In this school we are a family. We are there to help and support each other. To help you up when you need and to push you harder when you need that. These ladies take that home with them and are stronger for it. I want to thank them for allowing me the honor of being along for the ride.
