Food Network Star Sandra Lee In Recovery After Breast Cancer Surgery

Sandra Lee, Food Network celebrity and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s partner, underwent breast cancer surgery today.

“Around 8 a.m. this morning, Sandy underwent surgery that concluded just before 1 p.m.,” Cuomo said in a written statement. “I am happy to report that she is doing as well as can be expected and has begun the post-surgery recovery process. On behalf of Sandy and myself, I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers over the last few days. Your support has meant the world to us.”​​

The Chappaqua resident announced her diagnosis May 12 on Good Morning America, saying she hoped by going public with her story to encourage other women to get frequent mammograms.
