Teacher Accused Of Relationship With Student Killed Self: ME

The victim was on paid leave from the Chappaqua schools over allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — Matthew Ketterer, 36, a suspended teacher and former track coach at Horace Greeley High School, has been identified as the person found dead in an untimely death investigation in New Canaan.

Ketterer was found in his Old Stamford Road home on Tuesday morning, June 26, according to New Canaan police. He was the victim of an apparent suicide, according to the Connecticut Medical Examiner's Office.

He had been on paid leave from the school since 2017 in connection with allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Both he and the student denied the allegations; Chappaqua school district attorneys in December had filed a subpoena to force the student to testify under oath.

Ketterer resigned in February, to be effective June 30.

He was also in the midst of a divorce, according to the New Canaan News.
