"I think it's a nice start, I think he's got more in him and I think when he moves into the next invintational, will give me a little bit of a gauge of where he stands. But he did a nice job today and he handled the race well," he said.
In the girls event, the top five was dominated by Fox Lane. Carly Schwartz, Rachel Eisman, Paige Cloonan and Kristina Dittrich finished from 2nd place to 5th place respectively to lead the way for the Foxes.
Schwartz had a finishing time of 22:56, while Eisman finished ten econds behind and Cloonan was 30 seconds behind.
"That was our goal today; our goal was to run with those four girls as a pack, and be able to have that pack ready to attack the other team," said girls coach Steve Petrillo.
Fox Lane girls also finished with a record of 2-0 against Croton and Port Chester. Fox Lane defeated Croton 25-32, and also defeated Port Chester 16-45.
The park was a new place to run for both teams and the coaches knew it could be tough, but as the results did show, the team did very well adjusting to the surroundings.
"The park is brand new to us," said Petrillo. "We try to do some good fundamental training, and hopefully we can take that wherever we go, no matter what kind of park that may be."
At the end of the day, with the sun setting behind the hilltop surrounding the park, Fox Lane was able to show that although they are a young team, they are going to be a team to be reckoned with.
