WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help cover funeral expenses for Andrew Vasquez, who was killed in a tragic traffic accident Wednesday evening.

"I’m making this fundraiser on behalf of the Vasquez family, for my best friend, Andrew Vasquez," organizer Alexa Maria Langiulli said. "On February 9, 2022, Andrew Vasquez was in a tragic car accident on his way home from work on Route 100 in Millwood, NY, and was devastatingly killed on impact."

Vasquez was killed when a semi-trailer crushed his car. The crash happened on a busy stretch of Route 100, under the Taconic State Parkway. An eyewitness told Patch that the box truck being carried by a tow truck may have hit the bridge prior to rolling over on top of Vasquez's car.

"He was one of the sweetest people you would ever meet and always had the biggest smile on his face," Langiulli wrote. "He always went out of his way to help people and loved his family beyond words. He was only 26 years old with his whole life ahead of him. The loss of Andrew is more than a tragedy and the impact he left on the lives of the people he touched is bigger than he could ever imagine. He leaves behind his mom, dad, sister, cousins, girlfriend, and many friends. Anything will help during this difficult time. Thank you all for your donations. I will keep you all updated on his funeral arrangements. Please keep Andrew and his loved ones in your prayers during this very difficult time. I love you, Andrew."

Any donations above the $25,000 fundraising goal will help towards living costs while the Vasquez family takes the time to continue to grieve their loss, Langiulli said. Donations can be made at the "Andrew Vasquez’s Funeral Costs" GoFundMe page.
