The purpose of the master bedroom is to provide a space where you can meet your own needs for rest, relaxation, and intimacy.
If you lose the main focus of the master bedroom as a personal sanctuary then clutter will inevitably follow.
Get rid of anything that does not meet the intended purpose of the room. The furniture and your clothes can stay but everything else gets a new home or gets tossed.
- Make Your Bed Everyday - nothing screams chaos like an unmade bed. It only takes a few minutes to make the bed every day if you use a comforter or duvet. Simply pull up the sheet and the duvet and you are done. Try to make this a habit before you leave the bedroom in the morning. The FI Shop has a beautiful selection of custom bedding that will make you want to show off your bedroom.
- Purge Your Closet Regularly - Use the clutter control formula and get rid of an item of clothing whenever you add something new to your wardrobe.
Bathroom
Narrow wall shelves are an excellent way to store bathroom essentials in a stylish way. Invest in attractive canisters to hold cotton swabs, cotton balls and your favorite lotion, and place unsightly toiletries under the vanity. Small wicker baskets can also be placed on the shelves for additional, hidden storage.
Hall ClosetOpen all packaging Unpack everything and discard all the outer packaging as soon as you bring things home from the store.
Stack things to the top. Look in each of your closets and make sure you are using every inch of vertical space.
Kitchen
Fill unavoidable open gaps with shelving. Even when you've done your best to maximize your home's storage potential, there will still inevitably be a few gaps here and there. Don't let them go to waste! Do another walk-through and keep an eye out for small, unused gaps that could be filled with a bit of shelving: a tall, narrow opening beside the washer and dryer, for instance, or 6 inches of space on either side of the kitchen door.
Pantry
Make a pile of everything you are going to toss, and another of items you could donate to a soup kitchen or food pantry. Look at the non-perishables you may have extras of and see if they may help someone else out.
Organize your spices, we love the spice drawer below! Organize your pots and pans, Tupperware and other storage items. If you have mismatched pieces you may want to get toss the extra lid or the container that has none.
Home OfficeKeep papers clean and pretty-looking by making these cute touch-of-gold clipboards.
