Experience Matters to Unique Coalition of Progressive Democratic Elected Officials, Groups & Independents for NYS SD 40 Campaign

A significant new group of elected officials from all levels across Westchester and Putnam counties have endorsed Pete Harckham’s Democratic primary campaign for NY State Senator in District 40 on September 13, emphasizing that Harckham’s experience and record of legislative accomplishment make him the most qualified candidate to win the November race against Republican incumbent State Senator Terrence Murphy.

The latest endorsees include Bedford Town Supervisor Chris Burdick, Town of Southeast Councilwoman Lynn Eckardt, Westchester County Clerk Tim Idoni, Buchanan Village Trustee Dwayne Jackson and Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray.

"I appreciate the support of this group of accomplished elected officials who understand that experience and qualifications are required to bring a true Democratic majority to the New York State Senate," says Harckham. “Our campaign is the only one in the SD 40 Democratic Primary that is backed by a diverse and broad progressive coalition of elected officials, Democratic groups and independent political organizations”.

“As a public servant for thirty-eight years, I’ve met hundreds of elected officials,” says Idoni. “Pete Harckham is a standout who brings a caring, intelligent and brave demeanor to everything he does and is exactly what we need in the State Senate”.

“Pete has the experience necessary to assist the Village of Buchanan with our economic revitalization efforts and he is the Democrat who can beat Terrence Murphy in November, “ says Jackson. “Winning this seat will not be easy, so we need a candidate with a proven record of winning in challenging elections and Pete is the only Democrat in this race who has proven time and again that he has what it takes to flip a seat blue".

"As a Westchester County Legislator Pete was out front on a host of progressive issues, including environmental hazards and clean water, local economic development, affordable housing, senior citizens, labor and human rights,” says Wray. “Pete works effectively with both sides of the aisle to get things done and he will break the cycle of toxic politics like we now have in Albany”.
