Harckham Endorsed by Sierra Club Atlantic
"We need a state senator who is 100% committed to the environment and will fight against climate change"

The Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter has endorsed Pete Harckham for NY State Senate District 40 in a major show of support for his positions on the environment and climate change.
"Pete Harckham believes climate change is real and that we have to drastically reduce our carbon emissions,” said Ed Berry, co-chair of the Atlantic Chapter Political Committee. “Therefore we must transform our economy in NY by making investments in solar and wind. We need a 100% renewable energy based economy. We must say no to the fracked gas infrastructure. Furthermore he firmly believes that plastic bags, straws and Styrofoam products must be banned. Peter was our advocate when he was our county legislator, now he can be our advocate state wide,” he added.
Harckham, whose opponent received a score of 68 in 2018 (down from 79 in 2017) from EPL/Environmental Advocates’ NY State Environmental Scorecard, has been a longtime environmental advocate since his days on the Westchester County Legislature and has elaborated on his positions in videos on solar, renewable energy, the Hudson River, eutrophication and water quality.
