Harckham Releases Tax Returns

Demands Murphy Do Same & Apologize to Voters for False Accusations

Pete Harckham, Democratic candidate for NY State Senate SD40 and former Westchester County Legislature Majority Leader, has released the past three years of his personal income tax returns to refute charges by Sen. Terrence Murphy, who falsely accused Harckham of illegally receiving salaries from two full-time positions at the same time during his employment in NY State government. In addition to making his past tax returns available, Harckham pledged to do so annually if elected to the State Senate and demanded Sen. Terrence Murphy do the same in the interests of transparency.

Murphy falsely accused Harckham of illegally receiving salaries from two full-time positions at the same time during his employment in NY State government. In fact, Harckham worked for the Office of Community Renewal and then left that position to work for the Thruway Authority. He did not hold both positions at once, or draw two salaries at the same time.

“Terrence Murphy is lying,” said Harckham. “He’s deliberately ignoring the fact that the two state agencies operate on different fiscal years and trying to claim that the overlap meant I was being paid for two full time jobs”.

“If he’s not lying then he’s unable to understand how different state government agencies work, and is unfit for the job of State Senator,” Harckham added.

According to Harckham, Murphy, who failed to correctly disclose his interest in two corporations on a previous state ethics filing and faces questions concerning a delinquent corporate tax bill, owes the voters of the district an apology for spreading these falsehoods in campaign mailers.
