HGTV Filming… Truth or Fiction in Filming!

Tune in on July 3, 10:00pm Eastern on HGTV

As we get closer the National Airing of our local HGTV Episode filmed in Bedford NY I wanted to share with everyone the reality of filming for the show. It still amazes me… when I tell someone I filmed an episode- I get the same reaction every time: That is one of my favorite shows- I watch it all the time.

I have been approached frequently and people ask me- Justin- is it real?  The answer is -YES- It is very real! There are no scripts, practice or rehearsals in filming a show like HGTV House Hunters. There are however do-overs… sometimes we just slip up with what we want to say- but we filmed in real time, with real conversation and real reactions!

On the show- you will see non scripted and very genuine reactions and feedback from my clients throughout the homes we toured.  All aspects of the show were filmed with natural and real conversations. The producers literally said to me… OK Justin- Open the door and do your thing! And that’s just what I did, just as I would work with any client. We made our way through the properties as I pointed out key architectural features and elements about the particular house.  My clients depended heavily on me to explain proximity to them in terms of schools, train, parks, and highways. It’s a very important element of my profession- knowledge of the area to the finest detail is paramount!

My client’s asked questions, as anyone normally would and I gave them answers, with very detailed explanations. What actually makes it onto the show and what gets lost on the cutting room floor is what I am also very eager to see. HGTV doesn’t at all let me or anyone involved see the show before it airs- so I will be sitting viewing for the first time as all of you are!

But most importantly- it’s a story about a super family documenting the greatest investment they could make for their family for years to come.  The process of documenting this on Television is very real and representative of our times together searching for a home.

My favorite part is that I was also able to feature local area businesses including my favorite local hotspot- Village Social Restaurant and bar in Mt Kisco and SPINS bowling. I’m so excited to see these businesses that we all frequent and support . Creating national television is about showcasing our community

Bringing HGTV cameras to Bedford not only showcases the properties and area of the country we live in… but the community and towns that we call home. We filmed on the streets of downtown Katonah, and Bedford Village as well as Richard Geres Restaurant in Bedford- the Bedford post inn, and alongside Martha Stewarts home.  That really allows viewers to get a good understanding of the local downtown feel and warm character of the Bedford Area. It’s really about taking pride in the area we call home which is deeply rooted in community involvement and family activities!

This is the first time that HGTV House Hunters, which is a national program has featured this area so prominently…… Sometimes we take our own community for granted with its close community feel in a rural type setting with such close proximity to NYC – we are really lucky to live in such a diverse location and I’m happy to share that with all viewers tuning in.
