I don’t know about you, but, to me, New Year’s seems like a long time ago. Do you remember the resolutions you made or the intentions you set? I do remember New Year’s Eve as it was my first anniversary with my amazing husband, but the rest has sort of blurred together. How about you?
A relevant quote was shared at a training retreat I am currently attending – and I can’t get it out of my head. It is so simple, yet so profound, that I knew as soon as I heard it I would have to share it with you.
So here goes:

“You never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” – John Maxwell.
Do you love it as much as I do?

Take a minute to ask yourself the following:
Am I truly happy with my life right now?
Is there anything I would like to change (anything at all)?
I know that even though I am very happy with my life, there are still things I would like to change or as I like to say, “Fine Tune.” So, I will state affirmatively that I also would like some things to be different.
The next question I ask myself (and I want you to ask yourself) is:
Am I willing to make changes to my routine to create a different outcome?
The truth is that your current “routine” has brought you to this point in your life, which is awesome! But do you want to stay “here”? If not, the only way to change, as the quote so eloquently says, is change your routine.
In my last post, I spoke about the power of commitment, which definitely comes into play here. What are you willing to commit to daily to have a different experience? Here are some ideas:
- If you are feeling disconnected from you partner, how about committing to being more intimate with him/her every day?
- If you are skipping breakfast, how about committing to changing that every day?
- If you are eating too much sugar and want to stop, how about committing to a less sugary diet?
- And so on and so forth…
I already have committed to changing a couple of my own daily routines, and truly believe that such changes will lead to a different outcome for me this year. I want to expand every year. And this type of growth is not possible without change.
I know what you are thinking. Your mind is overwhelmed and automatically saying, “I can’t.” Please stop for a moment and read Maxwell’s quote again. Just breathe and take it at face value.
“You never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”
It is not so complicated. In reality, it is simple – if you let it be.
So I invite you to think of something you want to change, upgrade, etc. Then determine what easy, teeny, tiny step you can do daily to help make that change take root and blossom.
Of course I am always here to help you if you are stuck and need a little help. Please feel free to reach out to me here.
