Kickboxing For Fitness Rules For Life – Effort

People are always looking for the easiest path to their destination. You probably here it all the time about quick and easy ways to get in shape or the newest fad diet plan that is guaranteed to get you to lose weight. I saw an ad the other day about some kind of body wrap where they wrap you in plastic or something and it takes inches off your waist. People think that there is a way for them to achieve maximum results while barely breaking a sweat. I’m here to tell you today that is not true. Even if it works, the results will only be temporary. My kickboxing & jiu-jitsu classes have proven over and over again to get people in the best shape of their lives. The only catch is………….they require effort.

“The only “Get in Shape” quick method is maximum effort and hard work. You can try to sit and dream all day. I’ll work hard. We can see who gets there first.”

My father told me as a youngster that I had to be willing to put the work in if I wanted something. My mother reinforced this by working two or three jobs at a time so I could have some of lifes luxuries. It’s pretty simple to me. I was never blessed with natural ability. I had to work harder at everything from academics to sports to just stay average. As I got a bit older my goals grew more extravagant. I no longer was satisfied with average. I wanted to be great and I already knew that path only required more hard work. Soon enough I started to embrace that kind of a grind. I found a certain pleasure or maybe pride is a better word, from working harder than others. It was because I knew what I got came from me. That no one could take it. It was all mine.

A true martial artist understands it isn’t about the destination but rather the journey. It is along the journey that we really find ourselves. We come to barriers on the path and figure out how to over come them. That makes you strong. We see all sorts of distractions that try to pull us off track but we stay focused. That makes you stronger. Before you know it your efforts have gotten you to your goal, your destination. That achievement feels awesome. It justifies all the effort, sacrifice and hard work you put in. Never be afraid of hard work but rather embrace it for what it is. Embrace it for what it does for you.
