To the Editor:
Terence Murphy's statement after Pete Harckham's primary victory cannot go without a response.
The turnout for the primary election held on a Thursday was not "underwhelming". Turnout was more than twice the previous, comparable primary.

Pete Harckham was not anyone's bagman. This is slander. Pete worked to restore community development grants that had been taken away by actions of the previous Westchester County Executive, a fellow Republican. Murphy did nothing to restore critical projects for his constituents.
All I have heard from Murphy in his years as my state senator is that he is against opoids. That is all he says. With everyone else, Pete also is against opoids, but Pete offers ideas and plans for making a difference in the lives of people in the district and the state. What Murphy does do is go to senior centers and schools to do inappropriate campaigning, using taxpayers' resources.
